2. None Of It Really Means Anything
Of course, meaning is a malleable, subjective thing in a cruel, uncaring universe. Does anything we do really mean anything? And if not, then what does it matter what a load of fictional perverts in their underoos do in a comic book? Not a lot, but on a less nihilistic tip, the events of Secret Wars don't really have any meaning even in their own story. Everybody knows that most comics storylines don't stick, that writers will forget the forgettable and retcon the truly memorable so it's like they never happened. But still, there is some deference to continuity and telling a serialised story. Gwen Stacy is still dead (in the main universe anyway), Cap feels bad about Bucky, and so on. The whole point of Secret Wars and its setting is that it's outside the main continuity. When it ends, everything will go back to normal. Most of the characters featured in Secret Wars and its tie-ins, and the stories in them, won't be returning. It's all even more inconsequential than your average dream, hoax, or imaginary tale. So who cares?
