In which Frank Castle goes from bit-part villain to Marvel leading man. Circle of Blood is the one which started it all; a solo miniseries which puts the character front and centre and lets him get down to bloody business.

The story sees Castle, escaped from prison and battling both sides of the law as he resumes his war on crime. There he becomes embroiled in conspiracy and set against one of his few frequently surviving nemeses, Jigsaw.

Many Punisher stories which have followed have been more violent, meaner and more intricate with their conspiracies, but Circle of Blood predates all of that, and it's still a storming good read too.
