Batman is a character known as a solo detective that single-handedly protects his home city of Gotham. At the same time, he is also the head of the large Bat-family and a founding member of the Justice League. Which one is he?

Over the years, Batman has pushed away from the Bat-family under the guise of protecting them from his villains. The same can be said for his teammates on the Justice League as the Caped Crusader keeps contingency plans against them and quits as often as he joins the League. These storylines were initially interesting as they created conflict within Batman and friction between him and his various allies.

However, this type of storyline occurs every few years in an attempt to shake up the character and prevent stagnation. Unfortunately, it has become tired and stale, as readers know that the conflict is hollow. Within a few issues, everything will return to normal until the next time a new threat appears that forces Batman to push his family and friends away once again.
