Going sci-fi as Scott Snyder and Andy Kubert come together to rebirth a much beloved DC property.

New Challengers is a new take on DC's old Challengers of the Unknown concept. Promising high sci-fi and adventure, the series will be by Metal's own Scott Snyder and artist Andy Kubert.

The series promises a new direction but will still honour the original concept of Challengers, and it's clear to see that it will play an important and central role to the DCU going forward. After all, Challengers Mountain is currently smack bang in the centre of Gotham City in Metal.

Featuring a new group of Challengers characters, the Challengers will live on borrowed time 'running from death towards the greatest mysteries, wonders and terrors of the universe'.

At NYCC, Kubert has commented that the scripts Snyder gives him are more loose and free, allowing him the space to go in his own directions and extrapolate the designs and actions, and the project naturally has a strong familial connection given his father's history with the Challengers.

Kubert has also described the project as less superhero based, and so this may add something more out of the standard superhero fare into the DC Universe.
