2. The Greatest X-Men Stories
Chris Claremont was really on form during this run, and there no doubt the influence of John Byrne helped with this. This run has the two greatest X-Men stories of all time, The Dark Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past. These two stories have been adapted in both the 90s animated X-Men series, Wolverine and the X-Men animated series. Dark Phoenix was part of the basis for X-Men: The Last Stand, and a film based on Days of Future Past is currently in development. While these adaptations are good, they are a pale comparison to the original comics. In addition to these two classic stories, this run includes: God Loves, Man Kills (which was partly the basis for X2) Proteus Wolverines Wedding The Return of Dark Phoenix The Brood Saga I, Magneto The Asgardian Wars Lifedeath I and II The Discovery of the Morlocks It also includes some great single-issue stories such as Demon, Chutes and Ladders, Gold Rush, Professor Xavier is a Jerk, Madness, Hell Never Make Me Cry, The Trial of Magneto and concludes with Duel.
