10 Ridiculous Extra Superpowers That Were Phased Out Of The Comics
6. Deadpool’s Teleportation And Holographic Projection Devices
Deadpool’s teleporter is a rare example of a character
component that, despite being dropped from the comics years ago, has remained a
part of his identity to this day, appearing in many cartoon and video game
appearances. The device allowed Wade Wilson to teleport instantly from one
place to another, whether across the world, or from in
front of an enemy to behind for a surprise attack, all with the simple click of
the Deadpool logo on his utility belt.
Another gadget that Wade once made frequent use of was his holographic projection device, which flawlessly transformed his appearance into anyone he wished.
These devices are worth mentioning in the same breath because they both featured prominently in Joe Kelly’s 1997-1999 run. While the run is rightfully praised by fans, these two gadgets are a little much for a character as powerful as Deadpool. It’s also easy to ask why Wade doesn’t use the holographic projector all the time, if he’s so ashamed of his physical appearance.
Ultimately, Deadpool stopped using the teleporter "'Cause it made it too easy!" Presumably his reason for abandoning the holographic projector was something similar, and could also be related to Wade's increased comfort with his appearance over the years.
