10 Secrets Of Gotham City You Didn’t Know About

5. Notable Destinations

Gotham City
DC Comics

There are many notable destinations within the confines of Gotham City, although it would be difficult to call any of them “tourist attractions.” the now derelict “Amusement Mile” is a waterfront amusement park located on an island in Northern Gotham. Formerly a bright and garish sight but now rundown and dark, the Mile is often used as the hideout for criminals, especially the Joker and Harley Quinn.

The center of Gotham supports several interesting, and a few notorious, attractions. Gotham Square is a large, central area that has many shopping and entertainment attractions and is the home of the city’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration. Then there's Grand Avenue, the primary theatre district for the city that has hosted a number of award-winning plays over the years. The notorious Iceberg Lounge is also located near the city’s center. On the surface, the Lounge is a successful nightclub with a polar theme. In truth, it is a front for the criminal activities of the Penguin.

A visit to the area called “Old Gotham” will give tourists a look into the past, as many of the buildings that survived the No Man's Land earthquake were created in the original Cyrus Pickney style. This area is home to the Gotham City Police Headquarters and the famous Clock Tower, the former secret headquarters of Oracle and the Birds of Prey.
