10 Smartest Comic Book Villains

6. Brainiac (DC Comics)

Although there are a number of different incarnations of Brainiac, the one we'll be referring to here is the Coluan who also goes by the alter-ego Vril Dox. He is extraterrestrial android (in most incarnations, as it happen) and one of the many arch-enemies of Superman. Possessing an amazing intellect - known as a "12th-level intellect" - thanks to both his advanced alien mind and highly advanced technological processing power, Brainiac's feats of genius are incredible (for comparison to his 12th-level intelligence, the entire population of 20th century DC Earth only combined to make a 6th-Level intelligence and the population of 31st century DC Earth only combined to make a 9th-Level intelligence). Brainiac's intelligence allows for unthinkable calculation abilities, an enhanced memory and an advanced understanding of mechanical engineering, bio-engineering, physics and countless other theoretical and applied sciences, as well as extensive knowledge of various advanced alien technologies. He is responsible for creating a number of powerful technological devices, including a belt that can erect extremely potent forcefields and a shrinking device. Indeed, he is responsible for shrinking and stealing Kandor, the capital city of Superman's home planet Krypton, and putting it in a bottle. Such is the power of his mind that he has evolved it to make himself capable of possessing living beings, absorbing information from other beings, transferring his consciousness into organic and technological sources, creating and manipulating computer systems, replicating himself multiple times and displaying the power to traverse or control space and time.
