Believe it or not, there's a version of Spider-Man who is evil. On Earth-11638, Uncle Ben never bit the big one, and instead, he helped train a young Peter Parker to become that universe's Spider-Man. Unfortunately, Spidey doesn't remain a good guy for long, and instead, he looks to the Spider-Verse to augment his abilities.

Instead of contacting other versions of Spider-Man and playing frisbee with them, he opted to capture and kill them by stealing their powers. Essentially, Peter Parker turned into a villain of the highest order when his Uncle Ben didn't get killed, so it's probably a good thing that happened over on Earth-616.

Speaking of Earth-616, when that Spider-Man fought this evil one, he one the day, and the evil Spidey was killed/put into a coma. When he died, he went to Hell, but instead of spending eternity in torment for his various evil deeds committed while alive, he was given a power boost and sent back to Earth.

This was done by Dr. Banner, the Sorcerer Supreme of that reality, who fused Parker's soul with the spirits and powers of the repentant damned. When he awoke, he was Ghost-Spider, which is a combination of the powers of Ghost Rider and those of Spider-Man. Reborn a blazing-headed good guy, he sent Spider-Man back to Earth-616 along with the Hulk and Deadpool.
