10 Stupid Arguments About Batman That Don't Make Sense

9. The Supervillains Exist Because Of Him

Another of the most common arguments against Batman is that he's to blame for the sudden uptake of supervillainy in Gotham City. If it wasn't for the Dark Knight swanning about in his flamboyant dress, the criminal underworld would never have got the idea to take on similarly colourful personas and expand their misdemeanours to an appropriate scale.

Again, this is a position often taken by members of his rogues gallery. The Joker especially is fond of telling Bats that they need each other, that they're yin and yang, that one cannot exist without the other - the latter meant literally, since an accident at a chemical lab involving the pair is what gave the Joker his appearance in some origins.

Obviously, the real-world explanation for why supervillains showed up at the same time as Batman was to give the character somebody appropriate to punch. In-universe, meanwhile? The world of DC is such that it can give birth to multiple different superheroes. Hundreds. Obviously, it would also have the ability to create baddies in silly get-ups too.
