10 Superhero Costume Redesigns That Were Laughably Misjudged

8. Cyclops (Uncanny)

The first item in our list that isn't horribly sexist (don't worry, there's way more) but is instead just plain dumb is Cyclops' recent redesign in the pages of Uncanny X-Men after the events of AvX. Cyclops has never had much luck with costumes before; his ocular abilites have meant that most of his costumes have covered not only his body in spandex, but his head too in what always seems to come off as a BDSM outfit gone wrong somewhere along the line. ...And his latest outfit is little different, but it does cross over into new levels of silliness. While all of Scott Summers' previous costumes had him wearing a visor, the protective ruby quartz that prevents his eye blasts from escaping and keeping him from eating cereal has somehow been...sewn(?) into his mask so that he has to just blink in the right way in order to fire them...we guess? Oh, and it also looks like an X. Which is good for probably the most well-known mutant on the planet at this point (besides Wolverine), as brand recognition's really at the top of his priorities.
