6. Storm
Marvel ComicsDuring her childhood in Africa Ororo Munroe was treated by a goddess when her mutant powers started to manifest themselves. When she reached adolescence she was able to see off storms and bring rain down on failing crops during droughts, and even fight off enemies to her village by bringing down great bolts of lightning. Of course than Charles Xavier turned up to ruin everyone's fun to reveal to her that she didn't have any sort of divine abilities, she was just a mutant with funky powers like he had. What a party pooper. And that was the end of Storm as a proper goddess, as Xavier convinced her that she had a responsibility to use her powers to help people all over the world, not just in her village. Because we guess Professor X and Uncle Ben had an unpublished crossover at some point pre-Spider-Man's introduction to the Marvel Universe. So what's she doing on this list? Well, all that changed one time when the X-Men took a little day trip to Asgard. Whilst vacationing with the young mutant team the New Mutants, Storm and the kids got picked up by trickster god Loki, who saw the way she took down a horde of demons and thought she'd be an asset in his ongoing war against his brother Thor. The then-depowered Ororo took the role of Goddess of Thunder, having her abilities boosted to new heights. She eventually rejected Loki's plans but her powers eventually returned, so she's technically still kind of a goddess we reckon.
