10 Superheroes Screwed Over By Reboots
2. Wally West
For the longest time, the one and only Flash was Wally West, who took over the mantle when Barry Allen nobly gave his life to saving the world from the Anti-Monitor. There had been talk of bringing Barry back for years, but things like the Justice League cartoon cementing Wally West as the one and only Flash in a lot of fans' head definitely put it off for a few years.
But eventually he DID come back, and of course, when the New 52 rolled around, Wally was erased from the timeline altogether. This was a decision fans hated, but like most decisions fans hated, DC was determined to die on this hill for various stupid reasons.
But one day, to everyone's shock and delight, he finally returned, and got his own snazzy new outfit to go with it! Books like the Flash and Titans at the time really helped get people back in touch with their old pal Wally.
Than Heroes In Crisis happened. By now the events of Heroes In Crisis are notorious, particularly the part where Wally is revealed to have been the murderer of multiple superheroes in a PTSD fueled outburst. He then tried to pin the crime on Harley Quinn and Booster Gold, which he knew wouldn't make any sense, but for various dumb reasons he needed the League running in circles chasing a wild goose.
So DC brought back Wally West... only to make him a mass murderer. What could possibly be worse than that?
