10 Things DC Wants You To Forget About Superman

6. Lois Lane, And That Whole Thing

Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane were a star crossed pairing for the ages. The constant romantic confusions, as Lois pined for Superman whilst wholly dismissing her dorky Daily Planet co-worker without realising they were one and the same, made for the most of the non-costumed drama in the comics for the majority of their run. It wasn't until the nineties, in fact, that Lois finally learned for good that Superman was Clark and vice versa, and the pair finally tied the knot. The will they, won't they was over, and fans rejoiced. The status quo in the New 52 is a little more complicated than that. Like the much maligned One More Day storyline in Marvel, which undid the marriage of Spider-Man and Mary Jane because the editors thought that's what fans wanted, Lois and Clark haven't been as big a deal. Instead the new pairing is Superman and Wonder Woman, a coupling which has been splashed over multiple pages and covers depicting the lovers making out in space. Which is the best place to make out, because cooties can't survive in a vacuum. For now, it looks like this Superpower Couple are the new great romance in Superman's life, with Lois sidelined as simply Clark's journalist colleague who treats him with a little more respect, but doesn't have any inklings of attraction to him. And it doesn't look like that's going to change any time soon, history be damned!
