10 Things DC Wants You To Forget About Aquaman

5. He Had A Baby Who Died

Goofy though a lot of Aquaman's adventures were, they weren't without their moments of tragedy. Even if the tragedy started off with a totally silly concept like Aquababy who is €“ obviously €“ Aquaman's toddler. The son of Arthur Curry and Mera, the Queen of Atlantis, debuting in 1965's Aquaman #23. And not really growing up after that. He made it to late infancy, at best, before his untimely demise in 1977's Adventure Comics #452. Yep, the comic that was about a guy with a walrus sidekick called Tusky who literally named his kid Aquababy (well, technically he was Arthurt Curry, Jr, but that's about as imaginative) involved infanticide. And goofy as Black Manta was, he had some darkness in him too. Since he's the one who killed the baby. Not by, y'know, stabbing it or anything. Oh no. That would be far too brutal for a comic book. No, he kidnapped Aquababy and suffocated him within a poisoned water tank. What fun! And probably too dark even for Snyder..
