10 Things You Didn't Know About Ultron

4. He Was The First Marvel Character To Utilise Adamantium

A lot of people seem to think that it was Wolverine who first appeared on panel wielding the indestructible fictional metal known as adamantium - they are wrong. It was actually Ultron who was the first to utilise it and it was in reference to him that it was first mentioned by name. In Avengers #66 in July of 1969, the script - penned by writer Roy Thomas - referred to the metal as part of Ultron's outer shell. It first appeared on panel in the same issue - drawn by artists Barry Windsor-Smith and Syd Shores - as Ultron was proving a scourge to the titular heroic team with his incredible durability that came as a result of his use of the metal. It has, of course, since been utilised by many characters - Wolverine obviously being one of them. Others include Bullseye, Agent Zero, Moon Knight, Lady Deathstrike and X-23.
