10 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About Green Lantern

4. The Powers Of The Ring

Green Lantern Corps Hal Jordan
DC Comics

The main power of the Green Lantern ring is to summon constructs that are only limited by the creator's willpower and imagination. Flight is another known power, but there are so many more uses for the rings that most fans won't be familiar with.

The every day uses of the ring include life support and personal shields to travel through space, acting as a universal translator, and as a vast encyclopaedia of the galaxy. Probably the most hilarious power the ring has ever done is when Guy Gardner created a super-intoxicating liquor in the water supply on Oa and then, when things got out of hand, made a sobriety beam in Green Lantern #211. The ring has also been able to create hardlight versions of minerals such as kryptonite to stop rampaging Kryptonians.

Surprisingly, Hal Jordan has used it to travel to the future before and walk through walls.

A rather versatile tool, these rings can do whatever the writer of the story can think up.
