10 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About Wonder Woman

8. She's Just Superman's Girlfriend

DC ComicsDC ComicsFor the longest time it's a match up that was hinted at in the comics, but only ever made explicit in the darkest corners of the internet (ie fan fiction websites). Of course, the romance between Clark Kent/Superman and his Daily Planet coworker Lois Lane is one of the most enduring in comic book history - they're like the Ross and Rachel of DC - but you can't help but think that someone with the Man Of Steel's power, and his alien origin, might be better suited to somebody else. Somebody like, say...Wonder Woman? In the New 52, DC's company-wide relaunch of all its characters, things have been switched around. Now Superman and Wonder Woman are an item, and even have their own title committed to documenting their superheroic team ups and space-bound canoodling. Which is a crying shame, because...well firstly, because that rather leaves Lois Lane in the lurch. Who's she going to date now? Jimmy Olsen? Get real. Secondly, though, it perpetuates the lie that Wonder Woman isn't much of a character unto herself, and is only good as a foil and/or lover to the real heroes that DC has on offer. It also insinuates that Wonder Woman is nothing more than a gender-swapped version of Superman, his equal and opposite, when nothing could be further from the truth. The character has a seventy year history not because the Man Of Steel needed someone who could solve that Mallrats quandary but because she's as unique and amazing a character as him. Possibly even more so, in fact.
