10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About The Thing
6. He Hasn't Always Been A Part Of The Fantastic Four
While fans may know Ben Grimm as the Fantastic Four's most iconic member, he hasn't always been on it. In fact, the Thing can boast membership for a variety of different superhero teams, including the Avengers, the West Coast Avengers and even the Guardians of the Galaxy, shattering the illusion that he's always been a mainstay of the Fantastic Four.
Various members have jumped in and out of the team, but none more frequently than Ben. She-Hulk once took his spot in the group, as did Luke Cage, and he's been in and out of the team periodically since. This isn't a new concept by any means; most X-Men have occupied a permanent spot on the Avengers roster at some point, but it is true that Ben's jumped into more teams than most people would've perhaps thought.
For the most part, these switches have worked. His time on the Avengers, for instance, made a great deal of sense, especially in light of the Four's fragmentation on account of Civil War. Given the character's cosmic roots, heading into space with the Guardians of the Galaxy also seemed like a smart move, even if it did come at a time where people were missing Marvel's first family.
Ben Grimm: Avenger, Guardian, and member of the Fantastic Four. That's a pretty impressive resumé.
