9. ...But Jonathan Hickman, Kieron Gillen, And Rick Remender Are Gone

Three of Marvel's most prolific (and talented) writers -- Jonathan Hickman, Kieron Gillen, and Rick Remender -- were surprisingly absent from the line-up of new books announced. Gillen and Remender have both addressed their departures from the Marvel Universe, citing similar reasons -- namely, an abundance of creator-owned work on which they need to focus (Remender also mentioned wanting to devote more time to his family). Gillen will continue to write "Darth Vader" for Marvel's Star Wars line.

Hickman has yet to make a statement, but given the sheer amount of writing the man has done for Marvel over the past few years, its little wonder that he would look for a break upon completion of his Avengers super-story. It's safe to assume that he will continue work on his Image Comics series, "The Manhattan Projects,"  "East of West," and "The Dying and the Dead."

Luckily, Marvel has several new writers coming into the fold with the "All-New, All-Different" relaunch, including Sean Ryan, Tom King, and Robbie Thompson.
