7. ...And So Does Silver Surfer!

Writer Donny Cates has been helming some of Marvel's best works over the last couple of years, with Venom in particular being a surprise hit of 2018. Cates has recently turned his attention to the cosmic corners of the Marvel Universe with Guardians of the Galaxy (go check it out), and spinning out of that comic comes a whole new Silver Surfer book, dubbed Silver Surfer: Black.

The first issue of Cates' Guardians opened up with some of Marvel's most important cosmic characters getting sucked up into a black hole thanks to a plot masterminded by Thanos' Black Order, and the Surfer ends up being one of their victims. It is from that premise that Cates will tell the latest chapter in the Surfer's long-running history, joined by artist Tradd Moore.
It's worth noting that Black will be a five-issue mini-series, but could this preempt more adventures with Norrin Radd? Here's hoping.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
