The 2009 series Batman and Robin saw a number of changes. Bruce Wayne was presumed dead and Dick Grayson took his place as Batman after a brief “Battle for the Cowl”. Damian Wayne took up the mantle of Robin and the Batcave was moved from Wayne Manor into the city. And with a new Dynamic Duo came a new Batmobile. One unlike any that had come before it.

Designed and partially constructed by Bruce Wayne, it remained unfinished due to Bruce’s inability to solve the flight problem. According to Alfred, it was a matter of great frustration for Master Wayne. Damian solved the problem and finished his father’s work. The new Batmobile would be capable of flight and even have the ability to hover in place, but would not have the manoeuvrability of the Batwing.

In reality, designed by artist Frank Quietly, the fenders of the car would move from the front and rear to become wings, and the fins would become the vertical stabilizers for the aerial mode. The car already possessed a five-cylinder engine that was more powerful than most jet engines. The vehicle was also armed with 19 different projectiles, including a flame-retardant foam and a sonic blaster.
