Death is a relative concept in the Marvel Universe. Almost everyday who has been killed off has eventually returned, with Spider-Man's Uncle Ben being the sole holdout to this day. The X-Men's Jean Grey expires and is reborn endlessly, Bucky Barnes was in the ground for decades before his resurrection as The Winter Soldier, and Wolverine's probably going to be back before too long. It doesn't tend to happen to the stars of books, however, let alone multiple times. He was killed and brought back to life in the within the Nighthawk miniseries by Jim Krueger, but more recently his ultimate fate was sealed with Brian Michael Bendis, David Mack and Klaus Johnson's Daredevil: End Of Days which skipped forward a few years and predicted a rather distressing demise for Matt Murdock. Marvel have done countless The End miniseries in the past, offering possible dark futures for some of their big heroes, but End Of Days seems to be far more set in stone. Bendis has said This is in continuity; not too dissimilar to how Dark Knight Returns became continuity through sheer force of will. So look forward to a dark, violent future New York where the criminal underworld has become the overworld. Excelsior, True Believers!
