1. Slowly Perished From Diminishing Super Soldier Serum
Right now the role of Captain America has ceased to be essayed by Steve Rogers, with BFF and former Falcon Sam Wilson taking up the mantle. That happened in light of a recent development wherein Steves Super Soldier Serum suddenly stopped working, meaning he lost all his superpowers and started to actually look like a 90-year-old-man. Thats not the first time the Serum has decided to just up and stop working, however. And last time, it had far more fatal results. Initially, the Serum ceasing to make Steve Rogers strong and powerful any more necessitated Tony Stark building him a big, stupid looking piece of body armour that made him look like NFL SuperPro. Everyone knew that was only a temporary solution, however, and in Captain America #443 (1995), the Avengers discovered the suit of armour with anything inside, assuming that the ancient and dying Steve Rogers had literally withered away to nothing. In the end, he had died with a whimper, not a bang. It was a little underwhelming. At least, it was until it was revealed Steve had been kidnapped. By the Red Skull. Who performed a full blood transfusion and brought him back to life and full power, because who says Nazis cant be charitable?
