10 Times Captain America Outsmarted Everyone

Although the events of Secret Empire sowed a lot of discontent amongst fans - who were understandably a little creeped out at seeing their favorite hero be turned into a Nazi - it was well worth it for the final issue of the series, which sees the true Cap beat his alternate-Hydra self both morally and physically.

While it'd be easy to have made this scene a simple case of the evil Steve Rodgers getting a royal beatdown, it's actually more a case of him being outsmarted, with the heroic Captain America actively setting his doppelganger up to fail. Knowing that just punching his evil counterpart won't truly defeat him, Steve instead lets his evil counterpart try and pick up Mjolnir, which inevitably fails as the Hydra leader isn't worthy of the weapon.

Aware his alternate self is now completely demoralised, Captain America casually picks up Thor's hammer, and absolutely destroys his opponent with it, ending both the fight and one of the more questionable Marvel comics of the recent past.
