10 Times Comics Changed Because Of The Fans

8. Who Will Wolverine Fight Next?...Nobody

Mark Millar's run on Wolverine with artist John Romita Jr was probably the last good thing the Scottish writer did, before descending into a never-ending cycle of cynical, violent deconstructionist works designed to be easily adapted into films (where he makes the big money). The Enemy Of The State storyline saw Logan fight every big Marvel character going, and it was a lot of fun. Whilst Wolverine was still under the mind control of criminal masterminds Hydra Marvel put together a little competition on their website where fans could vote for who they wanted to see Logan come up against next. After all, he's the best there is at what he does, and maybe what he does is wrestle with Squirrel Girl. Mac Gargan as Venom was ahead for a while, a character Millar had written in his Spider-Man run and was apparently sick off. He favoured Blade, but ultimately Daredevil's arch nemesis Bullseye won the poll. And, erm, then Millar never wrote it, so maybe this one doesn't quite count...
