Grant Morrison's run on New X-Men introduced a lot of new concepts and characters to Marvel's mightiest mutants, from Professor X's evil twin sister Cassandra Nova to Emma Frost joining the team to every couple of issues being drawn by a terrible fill-in artist. Chief amongst his creations, though, was Xorn. The zen-like mutant with a metal head and a star for a brain was found locked up by the Chinese government, about to be sold off to a supervillain to harvest his organs before the X-Men saved him. From there he joined their school, teaching with a surprisingly clam an collected manner to the bratty mutant kids. But that all turned out to be a ruse to infiltrate the X-Men at their vulnerable core, as Xorn revealed himself to be Magneto in disguise! It was a pretty great twist, and nobody saw it coming but hey, readers really liked that Xorn guy. So Marvel brought him back. As a different person. Who wasn't Magneto. And never explained that in a satisfactory fashion.
