10 Times DC Comics Lost Their Damn Minds
6. The Flash Gets Fat
DC comics in the 60's were especially weird. From Bat-Baby to Lion-headed Superman, this list could easily have just been the top ten times a DC hero got hit with a ray gun that turned them into something ridiculous. Instead though, only one story is going to appear to represent that entire sub-genre, and it's got to be the time Flash got fat.
In Flash #115, Gorilla Grodd invents a ray that causes his nemesis to absorb all the moisture in the air around him, causing him to become incredibly fat under the special comic rules of "well none of us know enough about science to say that definitely wouldn't happen".
After a few pages of people laughing at the fat man try to run (because we're all terrible people and the world probably deserves to get destroyed by Darkseid), things get weirder when Barry loses his memory and is turned into a sideshow freak by some random jerk (OK, we definitely deserve to get destroyed by Darkseid).
Flash eventually goes into a dehydration room and is able to shed his tons of fun. Back in fighting shape, he's able to stop Grodd and save the day and leave us all with the legacy of the excuse we'll be rolling out every Christmas from now on.
