In case you were wondering "how did Professor Xavier keep his deception from Jean Grey, the other mind-reader on the team?" then...I dunno, ask Stan Lee. That did become an issue later on, when writers remembered the abilities of the characters they were penning, and also kept in mind that Xavier was a massive douche. Because when he decided to fake his death, he made sure that Jean wouldn't spill the beans to anyone. Not only is the fact that he pretended to be dead for a while pretty despicable, and not only did he force a member of the X-Men to lie to her teammates during the grieving period, but his reasoning behind playing possum was totally whacked too: he, well, he needed some time alone, to work on something. Yeah, that's what "DO NOT DISTURB" signs are for, ya jerk.
