10 Times That Avengers Died (And Subsequently Required Avenging)

6. Goliath - Civil War

Death Of Avengers
Marvel Comics

Despite being someone fans will never forgive, Hank Pym isn’t the one instilled with Pym Particles who gets a hole blown through him.

The Goliath in question was Bill Foster, originally a lab assistant to Hank Pym. He was often seen on street level teams, among the likes of Luke Cage and Iron Fist, which would explain why he was more on Cap'n 'merica's side during the 'Civil War'.

This may not have been the wisest choice though, as he became the first causality of the war. During one of the first clashes between heroes things weren't going Iron Man's way, so he and Mister Fantastic unleash their secret weapon. However, in doing this they soon learn the hard way that people seldom say ‘playing god’ in a positive manner, as their clone of Thor kind of bugged out and straight up murdered Goliath. Whoopsie.

What was a real kicker was that when he died he remained giant sized, so they had to dig up a gigantic hole. Iron Man footed the bill though so, you know, he was trying to make up for it. That's got to be worth something, right? Maybe? Maybe a bit?
