10 Times The Joker Actually SAVED Batman
9. Stopping Batman From Killing The Riddler
One of the most impactful stories from Batman's recent history was Tom King's The War of Jokes and Riddles. The storyline sees The Joker and The Riddler squaring off against each other in a vicious feud, and then all of Batman's rogues gallery getting sucked into the conflict, leading to Gotham being all but destroyed.
Batman soon realises that, despite his best efforts, he cannot hope to best the two factions on his own and attempts a sort of 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' approach. The Joker has always been the most heinous and dangerous villain the Dark Knight has ever encountered, and it is probably this thinking that initially leads Batman to taking the side of The Riddler.
However, when The Riddler begins to push his buttons a little too much, Batman lashes out and looks destined to break his one golden rule. It's The Joker that leaps in between the foes and throws his hands in front of the blade Batman's brandishing, stopping him from killer Riddler and saving the one thing that keeps the Dark Knight from really slipping.
