10 Times The Joker Basically Defeated Himself
2. He Won't Let Harley Quinn Kill Batman - The Batman Adventures: Mad Love
Two years after Harley Quinn debuted in Batman: The Animated Series, the creators, Paul Dini and Bruce Timm set about co-authoring one of her greatest stories in the cartoon's tie-in comic, The Batman Adventures.
In Mad Love (which was later adapted into an episode of The New Batman Adventures), we see how the Joker manipulated his psychiatrist, Harleen Quinzel, turning her into his crazed partner in crime, Harley Quinn.
As the Joker is defeated by Batman once again, the hot-headed lunatic takes his frustration out on Harley. Trying to please her Puddin', Harley successfully kidnaps Batman and ties him above a piranha-infested aquarium. When Bats points out the Joker will never believe she defeated his greatest foe, Harley calls Mistah J so he can watch his nemesis bite the dust.
The Joker is so terrified Harley will steal his thunder, he actually saves Batman from his sidekick's trap, solely because he wants to off Bats himself. Batman points out that Harley came closer to defeating him than the Joker ever had and he could've killed him if it wasn't for his ego.
After teasing the Joker by calling him "Puddin'", the mad clown goes into a frenzy and leaps at Batman, only to fall into a smokestack.
