Bruce Wayne had a peculiar relationship with Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of nemesis Ra's Al Ghul. Similar to his relationship with Catwoman, Talia is acted as both a villain for the Caped Crusader, and a romantic interest at other times. After one of their..."encounters," Talia discovers she's pregnant. Rather than give birth naturally, the fetus was grown in a lab, and was eventually born as Damian. Left in the care of her father's League of Assassins, Damian was raised to be a skilled assassin, and by age 10 is extremely experienced. Talia then leaves him with Bruce, hoping Damian would sabotage his father's operations as Batman. At first, Damian was rude, abrasive, aggressive, and was fighting with seemingly everyone he laid eyes on, including trying to kill Tim Drake to take over the Robin role. Eventually, he realizes what he was doing was wrong and helps Bruce take down his mother's operations, although he ends up staying with her. After Bruce "died" in Final Crisis (he was actually sent back in time, it's way too convoluted to explain), Damian returned to become the new Robin and team up with Dick Grayson, who took over as Batman. Although he was still arrogant and rude, Damian learns to work with Dick and together they made a unique new Dynamic Duo. Eventually, Damian renounces Talia and her family, deciding to permanently side with the Bat-Family. When Bruce returned from the "dead," Dick Grayson went back to being Nightwing and Damian teamed up with his father, fighting crime together both in Gotham and globally as part of Batman Inc. Earlier this year, Damian's life ended in the pages of "Batman Incorporated." While fighting her mother's terrorist group Leviathan, he was killed by the Heretic, who was a mutated adult clone of Damian. Bruce's mental state deteriorates from losing his son, and he spends most of his time seeking revenge against Talia and trying to find ways to bring his son back. Most recently, Bruce learns that Damian's body was stolen from his grave, and we learn that Ra's Al Ghul has been engineering new clones of Damian. The nature of comic books suggest that Damian might come back in the future, but for now, his death has hit everybody in the Bat-Family very hard.
