10 Unbelievable Times Batman Beat Superman

8. Superman: Red Son

A common theme you've probably noticed through this list is that Batman knows full well that trying to take on Superman head-on is, uh, unwise, to say the least. Even when backed against the wall and needing to fight his way through the Man of Steel, Bats usually has to stack the deck in his favor in some way to even survive a man who can reduce him to red paste by briskly walking through him.

One of the most notable examples of this took place in the beloved Elseworlds classic, Superman: Red Son.

In this alternate universe, where Superman's craft instead landed in Soviet Russia instead of Kansas, Batman is reimagined as a violent terrorist who hates Superman's guts to the point of gleefully bombing buildings full of people just to draw him out. Their final confrontation takes place in an underground mine shaft that the Dark Knight has filled with lamps that have the rays of a red sun, thus weakening Superman immediately.

If it wasn't for Wonder Woman making the save here, Superman would have been done for.
