10 Villains Superman Has NEVER Defeated
4. Bane
With Bane having infamously destroyed the Dark Knight during the events of Knightfall, it makes sense that comic creators have tried to avoid having Superman face him. After all, the combo of Bane's super-strength and intellect likely couldn't compare the Kryptonian's Swiss army knife selection of powers.
But here's the really silly thing: the pair don't seem to have ever fought. Like, at all. Even in Injustice, Bane comes to Superman as a potential ally instead of an opponent, despite the fact that you'd expect even this more villainous Clark to want to throw down against such a villain.
Weirdly, when you think about it, it does make sense. The reason Bane challenges Batman is because he knows the Knight is at the peak of human condition, which means he's a worthy rival. Superman can melt iron with his eyes and create ice cream with his breath, so taking him on is less of a fun challenge, and more of a death wish.
This might even be the secret reason Tom Hardy's wishes to have Bane in Batman Vs. Superman fell on deaf ears. After all, Bane is definitely smart enough to know if someone has the word 'super' in their name, you probably shouldn't try and fight them. His real power is common sense, when it comes down to it.
