The X-Men are happy to accept any mutant that walks through their doors and will train them to fight for mutantkind. Some are better suited to heroism than others.

Japheth was born in Apartheid-era South Africa. As a child he was very sickly and couldn't digest solid foods. One day though, Magneto came to him and revealed the truth, Japheth was a mutant. He was a really weird mutant.

Maggott's digestive system was replaced by two giant maggots that he could release from his body. The maggots could eat anything in their path and transmit the energy back to Japheth to increase his size and strength. Also, whenever the maggots left his body, Japheth's skin turned blue. Except sometimes it didn't as well.

Magneto initially tried to get Japheth to join him, but Maggott's peace-loving nature led him to join the X-Men instead.

He didn't really do much as part of the team though. The only real thing of note that happened was that his maggots were implied to be related to a race of demons called the N'Garai, but that was never followed up on because no-one cared enough about him.

Maggott was later rounded up and executed by Weapon X. He the returned as one of the immortal vampire Selene's zombies.

I was just a mild-mannered NCTJ accredited journalist until one day I found out the truth... that I could share my nerdy ramblings with people on the internet! It's just like mumbling to myself on the train, but without all the strange looks.
