No matter what the era, Darkseid continues to be a massive threat to Earth and indeed the entire universe. During the Great Darkness Saga storyline, a mysterious evil threatens the future 30th century Earth. When the Legion of Superheroes investigate, it is eventually revealed that the one pulling the strings is none other than Darkseid.

As part of his new plan to conquer the universe, Darkseid starts freeing some of the worst villains in existence and then draining their powers. With the powerful abilities of the likes of Mordru and the Time Trapper added to his arsenal, Darkseid arrives on Daxam.

He uses his unfathomable power to place Daxam under a yellow sun, thus granting all its inhabitants Superman-like powers; not only that, he is also able to place them under his mind control. Darkseid then proceeds to use the entire population of a planet as disposable tools, even forcing them to reshape the planet in his image.

He sends the scores of Daxamites into battle against the coalition of every available superhero from across time and space. As one would imagine, he has less than zero concern if an entire race becomes obliterated just so his plan could proceed another step.
