Darkseid’s lust for power is unquenchable. Despite accumulating an obscene amount, he is never satisfied and is constantly searching for new ways of enhancing his might. This often involves targeting other entities in order to steal theirs. While his primary target has always been the Anti-Life Equation, there have been plenty of other sources of power that have drawn in Darkseid over the decades. This included the time when Darkseid decided he wanted the power of the Olympians.

After capturing and torturing Wonder Woman for the location of Zeus and co., Darkseid decided more extreme measures were needed. With Diana refusing to divulge any information, Darkseid launches an assault on her home, Themyscira.

In order to get to the Olympians, the forces of Apokolips engage in a bloody war with the Amazonians. The resulting battle saw Themyscira absolutely ravaged, and around half the Amazons dead.
