Having a child that is actually an incredibly sentient A.I makes for a complicated parenting experience, especially when said A.I swan dives off the deep end into evil. This said, while Hank Pym is certainly put in a weird position by being the technical dad of Ultron, a lot of the way the robot turns out is Pym's fault.

For example, Hank spends a good portion of time basically refusing to consider Ultron his son, despite the cyborg's attempts to bond with his human creator. You can't totally blame him - it'd be weird if Siri suddenly decided you were family - but Hank is aware that Ultron is hyper-sentient, and yet treats him no better than a toaster.

Though this isn't the only reason Ultron becomes evil, it is why he doesn't listen to Hank when his dad tries to stop him from taking over the world. As weird as it sounds, you can't totally blame Ultron for that.
