10 Worst Things Batman Did To Villains

Murder isn't even the worst of it.

Despite being a literal superhero, Batman is almost equally famous for being the world's greatest detective as he is for brutalising his enemies.

Such poor treatment of his foes has meant that the Dark Knight has done some terrible, terrible things to villains over the years.

His career in Detective Comics began with a massive amount of murders, due to a lack of any no-killing rule, yet that hasn't stopped the Caped Crusader from treating criminals as a Mortal Kombat character might an opponent, or how the villains he's battling may treat one of his allies (maybe all those "we're not so different" speeches aren't actually as inaccurate as they seem?).

Often times, such acts will be justified through emotional hardships such as the classic 'killing off of a minor supporting character' but others will see Batman give in to his even darker side for no particular reason at all - especially when it comes to that aforementioned early incarnation of the character.

So, with that said, here's a look at some of the worst things the Punisher- I mean Batman, has done to villains.

10. Bootface - Batman And Robin #10

Sure, Batman doesn't kill, but that doesn't stop him from inflicting permanent wounds, now does it?

In Tomasi and Gleason's run on Batman and Robin this idea was explored through a group of criminals that had all been permanently damaged by Batman or Robin.

There was Smush, three men merged into one monstrosity at the hands of Robin; Scallop, who had one of Batman's arm spikes go through her ear; Bat Head, a guy with a batarang lodged in his skull, and Bootface - who was kicked in the face by Batman and had the imprint melted into his skin.

The melting part came as a result of Bootface using a flamethrower at the time of the incident, leaving the villain with some of the worst facial scarring in comic history and hence arguably making him the worst of the aforementioned group.
