6. Treated Stephanie Brown Like Garbage
During the 00's, DC tried to reinvent Batman as an even darker hero. The result was that it turned him into a massive jerk.
At the time, Batman was on to his third Robin, the teenager Tim Drake. However, when his father discovered what he was doing, he ordered Tim to quit.
As part of a ploy to get him back, Batman approached Tim's superhero girlfriend Spoiler and offered her a place as his new Robin. Stephanie accepted, unaware that it was just an attempt to make her boyfriend jealous.
Stephanie Brown was not Robin for long. After only a single mission, Batman fired her. This was an act that would have severe repercussions.
Devastated, Stephanie stole one of Batman's contingency plans to unite all the gangs of Gotham under a single ruler. She intended to enact the plan to prove her worth to Batman and regain the Robin mantle. It backfired horribly though and Gotham was plunged into a months long gang war that claimed hundreds of lives, including Spoiler's.
It would later be retconned that Stephanie only faked her death and that Batman had helped her find a new life. This just made Batman an even bigger jerk though since he never bothered to tell Tim his girlfriend was still alive.
