10 Worst Things Doctor Strange Has Ever Done

5. He Nearly Got Marvel Sued

In the 1990 story, Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #15, the titular character is visited by his old flame, Morgana Blessing. Blessing is an author who wrote a book about Doctor Strange when it was believed he was dead.

However, that's not what Blessing is best-known for. You see, this comic got Marvel in a bit of legal trouble because the front cover, which is of Morgana Blessing, is clearly based on the musician, Amy Grant.

Since Grant was deeply Christian, she was upset that her image was used in a Doctor Strange story since she associated magic with witchcraft. It didn't help that the comic in question has vampires and a bull-headed alien that resembled the Devil. Also, the character that Grant is based on kept a supply of blood to feed a vampire.

Her attorney, Mark Patterson, tried to get the comic banned but failed. In 1991, Marvel settled the case out-of-court, under the condition that they admitted to no wrongdoing. When the comic was republished, Grant's image was removed from the front cover.

Sadly, this is not the only time Doctor Strange upset somebody outside of comics...
