Given the Hellfire Club continually stalk, harass, and just generally give grief to Jean Grey, it's fair that over the course of her interactions with them, some are likely to not be pleasant.

There is, however, a pronounced difference between her maybe beating them up a little, and Jean flambeing them to a finely burnt crisp. Admittedly, this can be put down to the Hellfire Club unleashing the Phoenix into Jean Grey's fleshy human body, but she hardly seems chocked up about it when she finally comes to.

While it's understandable to hold grudges against the cult who continually try and indoctrinate you for their questionable plots, there is still a clear line in the sand as to what constitutes an acceptable retaliation - and that lines comes miles and miles before 'burning them alive until their skeleton resembles a bunch of charcoal'.
