10 Worst Things Robin Has Ever Done To Batman
3. Jason Dies - Batman: A Death In The Family
A Death In The Family took us from Gotham to the Middle East, as Batman and Robin set off in search of Jason Todd’s real mother, confronting Lady Shiva along the way.
Betrayed and separated from Batman, Robin finds himself face to face with the Joker, and is no match for the Clown Prince of Crime and his trusty crowbar.
Undoubtedly the most barbaric sequence committed to print in a Batman book, Jason is beaten within an inch of his life by a laughing, gleeful Joker, and is left at the mercy of a ticking time bomb which ultimately claims the life of the second Boy Wonder.
As horrific as Jason’s death was, and as far reaching its consequences for the DC universe, its effect on Batman was arguably worse.
The Dark Knight did not reach Jason in time, so he could not stop the bomb, nor prevent the Joker from brutally beating Jason with a metal bar over and over, revelling in every last stroke as the last of Todd's strength faded.
To Bruce Wayne, a man already haunted and traumatised by the death of his parents whom he was equally powerless to save, it was not only Jason who died that day.
