7. Locked Up In An Asylum - Deadpool (2008) #40
Deadpool is arguably one of the most insane characters in the Marvel Universe, even more so than Moon Knight or Carnage, so it came as no surprise when he was eventually thrown into a mental institution after completely annoying Captain America, along with legal representation from She-Hulk. Wade was thus thrown into Crossmore Prison in England to receive some much-needed psychological treatment.
However, as with any mental institution in a comic book universe, this English institution was a completely corrupt and horribly underfunded one, with an escape rate reported as two out of every three inmates escaping successfully.
Wade was in desperate need of psychological help, but instead, he was isolated and attacked constantly by the guards and the other supervillain prisoners simply due to fear and hatred of Wade and his mutant powers.
The only person who seemed to actually focus on helping Wade to overcome his mental crises was his assigned psychologist, Dr. Whitby. Dr. Whitby tried to make Wade accept the horrors of the people he killed, but over time it was revealed that she had fallen madly in love with him and helped him escape in a similar fashion to the Charlie Chaplin film, The Great Dictator, preventing Wade from getting the help he needed.
