10 Worst Things The Green Lanterns Have Ever Done

9. Punishing Hal (To Redeem Themselves) - Green Lantern (Vol. 5) #40

Green Lantern Is Bad
DC Comics

There are few storylines more tragic - and more ultimately pointless - than Green Lantern: No More, which details Hal Jordan pretending to turn traitor in order to make the Green Lanterns appear better by showing they are willing to hunt down even one of their own.

Although Hal totally signs off on this plan, it's notably because he believes there's no other way for the Green Lanterns to be redeemed in the eyes of the public - and only the ever-faithful Kilowog bothers to try and stop him. Crucially, nobody even thinks to remind Hal that, actually, he's infinitely more useful leading and helping out the Green Lanterns than leaving them in the dust.

In the end, the Green Lantern Corps randomly disappeared, meaning that all of Hal's suffering was for literally naught, which makes the whole thing feel even worse.
