10 Zany Comic Book Movies That Would Send Fans Wild

9. Firestorm

Most superheroes possess two separate identities; one that they present to the world and another that provides the hero with a chance to lead a normal life, away from the spotlight. Some secret identities just require a new pair of glasses, but the concept of DC's character Firestorm takes this much further. When teenager Ronnie Raymond and physicist Martin Stein are caught in a nuclear explosion, the two are fused together into one entity known as Firestorm. As Stein was unconscious during the accident, Raymond retains control over the pairs physical form while Stein offers advice from within his mind. Essentially, Firestorm suffered from a unique form of multiple personality disorder, which is disconcerting when you factor in the considerable power that this "Nuclear Man" wielded. After the explosion, Firestorm discovered that he had developed a range of abilities, including flight, strength and the power to create concussive blasts of energy. What sets him apart from other heroes though is Firestorm's unique ability to alter and rearrange the atomic composition of inorganic matter. Want to change lead into gold? Firestorm's your guy. The potential of such an ability is limited only by the writers imagination, so it's a shame that Firestorm didn't ever become popular enough to maintain his own solo series for longer than a few years. Warner Bros. recently announced that Stephen Amell's cousin Robbie has been cast in the TV adaptation of The Flash as Ronnie Raymond, presumably in a role that will lead to Firestorm's appearance on the small screen. We assume that Amell's portrayal will tone down the stranger elements of the Firestorm character, but imagine how fascinating it would be to see a movie where a superhero is literally battling with the voices inside his head. Arguably, characters like Batman already have mental problems of a kind, but Firestorm takes this to a whole new level. Oh and did we mention his hair is made of fire?
