10 Zany Comic Book Movies That Would Send Fans Wild
8. Brother Power The Geek
Before we go any further, just take a moment to remember that the sixties was an unusual period in history and many ideas that seemed progressive at the time now seem freaky as hell. Ok, here we go... In 1968, artist and writer Joe Simon created a hero called Brother Power the Geek who possessed super strength and speed. Standard. What makes this particular character so odd is that the Geek was originally a shop mannequin who was brought to life when struck by lightning. And you thought being bitten by a radioactive spider was goofy! The super-powered doll soon ventured out into the world to fight crime, spreading a message of peace and love, but it didn't last for long. Maybe it was the shabby clothes. Maybe it was the fact that he was a doll. Whatever the reason, Brother Power the Geek's comic only lasted for two issues before the unusual hero was finally shot into space. For a few decades, no one heard from the Geek until Neil Gaiman resurrected the character as a simulacrum elemental who possessed a special connection with objects like mannequins, dolls, statues, etc. A Brother Power the Geek movie may be a harder sell than most on this list, but if a studio took a chance on this property, they could end up having a big cult hit on their hands. The budget would have to be modest to minimize financial risk, so the key issue here would be the tone. If the writers went too crazy, no one would understand what the hell was happening, but if they played it too safe, the movie would be missing the entire point of this bizarre yet potentially lovable character.
