11 Beloved Marvel Comic Books Overdue A Comeback
7. Sam Wilson: Captain America
Sam Wilson: Captain America was such an interesting comic coming as an interesting time.
Online comic fans were debating (and in some case, threatening, harassing and attacking) others about whether comics should be more progressive - which seemed to be the trend with Sam Wilson as Captain America, Miles Morales' Spider-Man, She-Hulk dropping the pronoun, and the girl Thor - or whether they should always feature the older characters. During this time of comics shakeups there was a not incidentally similar conversation happening in regards to American politics.
And into that fray, Sam Wilson: Captain America was launched, telling a tale of what being an American, what being Captain America, was about. However, it didn't last long and eventually ended with Steve retaking the shield and Sam moving back to being the Falcon. Steve has kept the offer to be Captain America open.
Which we hope means the comic will come back again at some point, especially as all rumors hint that the new Falcon & Winter Soldier show will deal with Wilson coming to terms with the idea of wearing the Shield.
