11 Comic Book Characters Who Died In 2019

5. Skurge The Executioner

Issue: Asgardians Of The Galaxy #10

2019 was not a good year for the Asgardians. With the loss of Heimdall and several others featured on this list, it just wasn't a good year to be from Asgard. The end came for Skurge The Executioner as well as several others, and he ended up riding out the "War of the Realms" event until the bitter end.

Skurge was the final victim of that event in Asgardians of the Galaxy #10, which was a bit awful considering he was resurrected shortly before joining up with the Asgardians of the Galaxy. He was killed back in 1985's Thor #362, but nobody stays dead for long in the Marvel Universe, even if your name is Skurge The Executioner.

In his most recent demise, Skurge went down fighting. The Angels of Heven joined forces with Malekith in the "War of the Realms," and Skurge took the fight to them. He joined up with Angela in Heven, and held off the Angels, giving Angela time to summon a team of undead Asgardians.

He was mortally wounded in the fight, and when he died, he woke up in Valhalla, the Asgardian realm of the honored dead. He was greeted warmly enough but insisted he hadn't earned the right to be there, but there he was, a member of Asgard's honored dead.
